Budget 2025
The Government has allocated just over $80 million over the forecast period to ensure the Ministry of Disabled People – Whaikaha can continue its work to improve the lives of disabled people.

The Ministry’s budget is made up of $18.715 million each year for system-level leadership, strategic policy advice and stewardship. This includes monitoring of disabled people’s outcomes across government, strategic policy advice for Ministers, supporting government relationships with the disability community, and coordinating the government’s alternate formats accessibility work.
A further $1.696 million is allocated towards disabled community development and capability-building, including grants and financial assistance towards disabled community development.
Note: Vote Disabled People was established from 1 December 2024 with a transfer of funding from Vote Social Development. Prior to 2022/23 the functions were delivered through Vote Health.
