New research into disabled learners in early childhood education and schools released

We partnered with the Education Review Office external URL and the Human Rights Commission external URL on two reports relating to disabled learners in early childhood education and schools. The research has found that education across NZ schools and early childhood services is failing too many disabled learners.

“Disabled people need to be fully included in all aspects of education. The curriculum, teaching, and physical environment must meet their needs,” says Office for Disability Issues Director Brian Coffey.

“A quality education is critical for disabled learners. When disabled learners receive a quality, inclusive education they are more likely to achieve better life outcomes.”
