With the extreme weather that is impacting Waitomo, we are thinking of any disabled people and whānau who may be affected. Please make sure that you keep safe.

Waitomo District Council has declared a State of Emergency for the Waitomo District following widespread flooding and heavy rain. Please follow Waitomo District Council on Facebook external URL for the latest information
Whaikaha is actively working to ensure disabled people and their whānau are safe in the Waitomo region. Follow our Facebook page external URL for updates.
In first instance if you need support, please contact your provider. If you are in danger, please contact 111. If you are registered you can do this via the 111 text line.
Deaf and disabled people and whānau can contact Whakarongorau Aotearoa, New Zealand Telehealth Services if you need support text 8988 or 0800 111 213.
If you are accessing disability support services and need extra support, in the first instance contact your provider. You can also contact Whaikaha – Ministry of Disabled People at contact@whaikaha.govt.nz or via 0800 566 601.

For people affected by flooding
If you are affected by the flooding and on a benefit or low income, Work and Income may be able to help.
For people impacted by the flooding, there is financial support available, please contact Work and Income. Call on 0800 400 100 or email MSD_Deaf_Services@msd.govt.nz. Open Saturday, Sunday and Monday 8am - 5pm
