Accessible information training
We offer free 2-hour online workshops with the Department of Internal Affairs and 3 Disabled People Organisations: People First, Blind Citizens and Deaf Aotearoa.
Who can attend and what the training includes
The monthly workshops are open to staff from central and local government including:
- public service and non-public service departments
- crown entities
- local and regional councils.
This training covers:
- what accessible information is
- why information needs to be accessible
- how to use plain language to make information clear
- alternate formats: audio, Braille, Easy Read, large print and New Zealand Sign Language
- the all-of-government alternate formats process
- how to make online and digital information accessible
- practical tips for creating information that is accessible from the start.
